Earlier we reported that Sony announced Jim Ryan, the President and CEO of SIE, will retire in March 2024, so his nearly 30-year work with the company will soon come to an end.
Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has decided to comment on the news and pay tribute to the PlayStation boss.
"Jim Ryan has been a great contributor to our industry and a fierce leader for PlayStation. I wish him the best in what he does next," Spencer wrote on social media. "Thank you for all you’ve done for the community over the last 30 years, Jim."
The official statement from the company noted that Hiroki Totoki, who is now acting as the President and COO of Sony Group Corporation, will step into the role of SIE Chairman starting in October 2023 and will assume the position of Interim CEO of SIE from April 1, 2024.
Ryan has been leading the PlayStation business since 2019 – one of the main accomplishments in the latest period was the launch of the PlayStation 5 console.
