Remedy's Sam Lake Revealed The Length of Alan Wake 2

Control currently has the longest runtime, but Alan Wake 2 will be even longer.

As the release date of Alan Wake 2 is getting closer, more details have been revealed. The Creative Director, Same Lake confirmed that Alan Wake 2 has a longer runtime than Control, Quantum Break, Max Payne, or any other game created by Remedy.

Well, that's good news since the storyline of Remedy games usually comes down to 10 hours or so. Here is what Lake told Kinda Funny Games during the recent show.

"We have always internally felt that we need to find ways to do longer games, because it's just like, people are looking at it from a value of money perspective as well too. So Control certainly was our longest game to date, and Alan Wake 2 is going to be longer than that, 20 hours plus."

According to the How Long To Beat website, players typically take around 19 hours to complete Control without DLC, taking into account the main story campaign and minimal side content. The inclusion of the DLC extends the playtime to approximately 25 hours.

Lake also elaborated on one of the main distinctions between the original Alan Wake and its sequel. He emphasized that the first game fell into the action-adventure genre, with occasional horror aspects, whereas Alan Wake 2 delves profoundly into the realm of survival horror. Lake believes that the horror genre, as a whole, is currently experiencing a flourishing era. It has transitioned from being considered niche and limited in appeal to gaining a significantly broader audience that is fascinated by horror content.
