Rumor: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake Is Still Alive

It's Schrödinger's game at this point.

Do you remember the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake that is supposed to be in development by Saber Interactive? We haven't heard anything about the game in a while; moreover, Sony removed its trailer and seemingly tried to make sure everyone forgot about it. So is there a game at all at this point?

Last year, shortly before the production was moved to Saber, Bloomberg reported that KOTOR was paused. But maybe the new studio could get it on track? Well, it doesn't look so. When asked about it recently, Embracer's CEO Lars Wingefors refused to comment as "anything [he says] to this becomes a headline."

During the Giant Bomb podcast several days ago, journalist Jeff Grubb claimed the remake "is not being worked on right now." So is all hope dead now?

Not entirely. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier has other information from his sources. He knows two people at Saber who are still working on it, "so I don't believe that the comment that it isn't being worked on "in any way" right now is true."

Great news, right? In a way, yes. However, Schreier doesn't seem optimistic about KOTOR actually making it to the launch:

'"Is it alive?" and "Will it ever actually come out?" are two very different questions. A third is "If it does ever come out, what will it actually look like?"'

So, yes, the game might be in development, but it doesn't mean we'll ever see it, and isn't it tragic?

Whoever is right about it, KOTOR looks to be in trouble. We'll keep an eye on it, and you join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel, follow us on InstagramTwitter, and LinkedIn, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
