S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s Agroprom Factory Reimagined in UE5 With Lumen

The iconic location was enhanced with better visuals and lighting.

If you are as big a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as I am, then this incredible project shared recently by Level Designer and 3D Environment Artist Jeks Demi will most certainly invoke the same overwhelming sense of nostalgia within you, creating an unstoppable urge to revisit the Zone once again.

Drawing inspiration from the original 2007 S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, the artist offered a current-generation take on the game's Agroprom factory, enhancing the familiar location with better visuals, revamped lighting, and lush vegetation, which makes the factory look more in line with the modern-day looks of the real-life Zone of Alienation. According to the author, the scene was set up using SketchUp and Unreal Engine 5, as well as the latter's Lumen tool.

And here are some of the artist's previous post-apocalyptic artworks, you can check out more by visiting Jeks' ArtStation page:

For those unfamiliar, Lumen is Unreal Engine 5's fully dynamic global illumination and reflections system, specifically crafted for next-gen consoles. It serves as the default system for managing global illumination and reflections.

Lumen excels at rendering diffuse interreflection with infinite bounces and indirect specular reflections in large, detailed environments, spanning scales from millimeters to kilometers. Attached below are some insightful guides that will show you how Lumen can push lighting in your 3D environments to a whole new level:
