Sea of Stars: a 90s Classics-Inspired Turn-Based RPG

The upcoming RPG promises to deliver engaging turn-based combat and story-rich gameplay.

Join the Children of the Solstice in the quest of fighting off the monstrous creations of an evil alchemist in the upcoming turn-based RPG Sea of Stars developed by Sabotage Studio. Inspired by the 90s classics, the game aims to "modernize the classic RPG in turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration and interactions with the environment, while still offering a hearty slice of nostalgia and good old, simple fun."

Sea of Stars promises to deliver engaging turn-based combat with timed hits, multi-character combo attacks, boosting, and a strategic "locks" system offering to play with different damage types.

The navigation system based on platformer expertise allows you to freely traverse the world full of different activities you can do to change the pace of the game. The beautiful world is lit by full-on dynamic lighting making Sea of Stars different from other 2D pixel-art games.

The RPG also offers an engaging story with dozens of original characters and story arcs, exploring classic themes of adventure and friendship with unexpected twists and events.

Sea of Stars is set in The Messenger's universe created by Sabotage Studio. The developers aim to blend retro aesthetics and modern game design and make a turn-based RPG "that would pay homage to the greats of the 90s while bringing enough novelty to be its own thing."

Sea of Stars is set to be released in 2022 on PC and Switch.
