A new project from the indie studio Pixelsplit, whose games consistently receive positive reviews.
If psychological horror games are your cup of tea, then Shift 87 is a must-play. This observation horror game will immerse you into a realm of subtle anomalies and unsettling occurrences, challenging your keen eye for detail in an atmospheric, handcrafted environment.
Shift 87
In Shift 87, your mission involves memorizing your surroundings and using your designated device to spot and report any anomalies or deviations. However, precision is crucial. Any errors will trigger a sequence reset, thus extending your shift.
The game warns players to stay calm and avoid frustration:
"Important: Remain calm if you become frustrated, in case you overlook inconsistencies and your shift takes longer. Excessive levels of adrenaline, noradrenaline or cortisol could lead to permanent damage."
Shift 87
Shift 87 offers a total of 66 anomalies spread over three levels of highly atmospheric environments and a full playthrough takes about 2-3 hours.
The game's developer, Pixelsplit, isn't new to us, as we've covered their last project called REVEIL. This first-person psycho-thriller got a very positive review with 90% being positive on Steam.
