Space Sandbox Avorion's Sales Reached Almost 450,000 Copies

The developer Boxelware announced that its space sandbox game, Avorion, has sold almost 450,000 copies, and its first DLC, "Black Market", has been sold over 60,000 times.

The indie studio Boxelware announced that its space sandbox game, Avorion, has sold nearly 450,000 copies. In addition, the developer noted that the first DLC for the game, "Black Market" which was released in November 2020 has been sold over 60,000 times.

Avorion was first launched in 2017 in Early Access, and since then, even before the commercial release of the game which took place in March 2020, the team has been working on the game bringing a number of enhancements including bug fixes, updates, and new features like alliances, a multi-threaded architecture, new combat mechanics involving specialized enemies, torpedoes and fighter squadrons, story missions and bosses based on feedback from the community.

Boxelware emphasized the players' enthusiasm about the game evidenced by the user reviews on Steam – 90% out of the almost 10,000 user reviews are positive, which makes Avorion one of the best-rated games from Germany on the platform.

The developers also pointed out the devotion of the gaming community which has created tens of thousands of stunning pieces of content on Steam Workshop where they share their own creations like ships, stations, and fighters. There are now more than 44,000 uploads on Avorion's Steam Workshop.

"We are infinitely grateful to the players of Avorion for the helpful feedback. Since the start of Early Access, we have been continuously working on improving Avorion and expanding it with new content," founder and CEO of Boxelware, Konstantin Kronfeldner, said. "It makes us really happy to admire new works from the Avorion community on Steam Workshop every day and to see that the players put so much time and creativity into the universe.”
