Game publisher Take-Two Interactive is laying off employees at Private Division and other parts of the company to "better align" the organization with its long-term priorities. A spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz that it continues to make investments in its talent and technology, and the impact of these changes on its US development teams "has been minimal".
"Outside of the US, we have begun procedures in compliance with local law that we anticipate may result in similar reductions. Take-Two has experienced exponential growth in recent years, and we are taking these necessary steps to position the company for another extended period of success."
The news is not unexpected: last month, Take-Two revealed that it had failed to reach the targeted net bookings in the fiscal third quarter of 2023 and decided to implement a cost-cutting program that should save it $50 million with opportunities including "personnel, processes, infrastructure, and other areas".
