The Witcher 3 Ships 50 Million Units

CD Projekt's 2015 RPG is now one of the best-selling games of all times.

During their earnings report on Monday, CD Projekt Red disclosed the sales figures for their highly successful video game series, The Witcher. The company proudly announced that the three games in the franchise have collectively sold over 75 million copies, with The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt alone accounting for over 50 million units.

CDPR's data indicates that The Witcher 3 has achieved remarkable success, placing it among the top-selling games of all time. It closely trails behind other popular titles like Super Mario Bros. and Red Dead Redemption 2, which sold 58 million and 53 million units, respectively. Although The Witcher 3 falls short of the best-selling titles like Minecraft and GTA V, this accomplishment is undeniably impressive.

Furthermore, CD Projekt Red announced a decrease in revenues of 19% compared to the previous year, amounting to $41.4 million. However, the company experienced a slight year-over-year increase in net profit, reaching $16.8 million during the first quarter.

CDPR CEO Adam Kicinski also addressed rumors that had gained attention over the weekend, stating that the company would not be acquired by Sony.

"Nothing has changed on our end. I can repeat what we've been saying throughout the years: CD Projekt is not for sale. We want to remain independent", commented Kicinski during a conference call following the results.
