A Solo Indie Dev is working on a retrogaming-inspired 3D co-op shooter RPG Gunmetal Gothic.
An indie developer ynoham, also known as Ryan Mahony, is a one-man studio behind Gunmetal Gothic, a nostalgic co-op 3D shooter we already introduced before and that totally belongs on the consoles from the '90s and looks just right on a CRT screen.
Recently, ynoham demonstrated how Gunmetal Gothic looks on an actual old TV by running the build on a laptop through an HDMI-AV adapter. It's not the first time the developer showcased the game with the almost natural 4:3 CRT resolution:

If you are tired of modern video games with hyperrealistic graphics, but don't want to deal with annoying compatibility issues and anachronistic gameplay of some actual retro games, this one might be for you.
In Gunmetal Gothic, you will take the role of an Anchorite, the last line of defense for the survivors of a city overrun by invaders from another dimension, set to explore this dark world and fight mechanical creatures alone or with friends.
Gunmetal Gothic's main features:
- Navigate and battle through the city of Vestige, solo or in a group of up to four players
- Choose your loadout with a point-buy system for diverse builds with meaningful trade-offs
- Unlock new equipment as you progress, and upgrade it with materials found in the world
- Achieve a high score by defeating enemies, collecting items, and finishing stages quickly
- Get nostalgic with a retro-3D aesthetic reminiscent of the consoles of the late 90s
The developer highlights the aim for personalization in the game with options to upgrade and customize your character with "a variety of weapons, spells, and gear".
Gunmetal Gothic was also included in last year's Godot Engine showreel and already looks very promising with such a distinctive art style and constantly improving game mechanics:

A little while back the game made a public debut with a playable demo at MAGFest Indie Videogame Showcase. The release date is yet to be announced, but you can watch the compilation of current gameplay clips below:
