This Low-Poly Over The Garden Wall Animation Impressed the Series' Creator

Imagine a beloved series as a retro video game with EscapedShayling's Blender animation.

With October's somber and melancholic vibes now settling over many parts of the world and Halloween being just around the corner, many are deepening the mood by revisiting Over the Garden Wall, a legendary miniseries and one of the best Halloween-season shows, second perhaps only to The Nightmare Before Christmas in its ability to convey the bittersweet feel of the Spooky Month.

3D Animator Shay, also known as EscapedShayling, is one such fan, honoring the series with a fantastic low-poly animation that reimagines Wirt and Greg's first meeting with Enoch in OtGW's Hard Times at the Huskin' Bee episode:

Perfectly capturing the characters' initial reactions to Enoch's appearance, the sequence was set up using Blender, a free and open-source software for 3D modeling, texturing, rendering, animation, and VFX. With its charming pixelated visual style and adorable character models, Shay's animation can surely make you wish for an official Over the Garden Wall game, and while such a game is unlikely to ever happen, hey, if dreams can't come true...

As a testament to the project's quality, it even succeeded in impressing the original show's creator, Patrick McHale, who fell in love with Shay's interpretation of the iconic scene from the second episode:

Earlier, the artist also showcased a low poly take on Greg that can win your heart with its sheer wholesomeness, and that's a rock fact:

We highly encourage you to visit Shay's Twitter, Instagram, and other pages to see more of their amazing works.
