Ubisoft Reveals Time Needed to Cross Certain Star Wars Outlaws Planets

"So the traversal of the whole thing had to feel like a journey, a commitment when you get on your speeder and you want it to go from one end to the next."

If you've ever wondered how long it would take to cross a planet in Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft has the answer. With a speeder, players can traverse three of the game's five planets in just four or five minutes.

In a recent IGN interview, the game's creative director, Julian Gerighty, shared that Tatooine, a Toshara moon, Akiva, Kijimi, and Cantonica in Star Wars Outlaws are about the size of two to three zones in Ubisoft's popular title Assassin's Creed Odyssey, with Tatooine potentially being slightly larger.

Gerighty also clarified how long it would take for the game's protagonist, Kay Vess, to ride from one side of Toshara to the other on her speeder. He said, "Four or five minutes nonstop, which doesn't sound like a lot, but once you're committed it's a fairly large amount, and you are always going to be distracted."

He stated that a bigger size is not what Ubisoft focuses on in the Star Wars Outlaws; instead, they are choosing to focus on quality over quantity. Gerighty explained:

"When we started thinking about how big we should make them, it was less about how big, but more about how long, in terms of traversal with the speeder, it would be.

So we don't want things to be just big for big sake. We need it to be contained, always fun, always proposing different activities. So the traversal of the whole thing had to feel like a journey, a commitment when you get on your speeder and you want it to go from one end to the next."
