Upcoming Horror Adventure Game Where You Need to Draw Your Own Minimaps

Raffaele Picca showcased a unique mechanic from his Godot-powered game Engraving.

Indie Game Developer Raffaele Picca continues working on Engraving, an upcoming Godot-powered psychological horror adventure set in an eerie, everchanging forset, showcasing a cool and unique mechanic set up for the game.

The mechanic in question requires the player to draw their own minimaps to navigate the forest, which, according to the developer, is a big part of the gameplay. Inspired by text dungeon crawlers and old-school adventure books, the ability to draw your own maps is set to come in handy considering that the landscape isn't constant and transforms each time you fall asleep. According to Raffaele, there will also be an option to export the maps for players to be able to compare their drawings.

As for the game itself, Engraving also features a neat Curse of Exhaustion mechanic, depleting your energy with every step you take and eventually causing you to fall asleep. Upon waking, you'll find that the forest's layout has changed, resetting your progress in this labyrinthine world.

"In Engraving, each choice could be your last as you weave through a hauntingly beautiful and unstable world," the developer says. "Will you escape this shadowy labyrinth or become a permanent etching in its tormented history?"
