If you think that the problem is on your side, it's probably not.

Lately, many users started reporting a problem when watching YouTube with ad blockers on. They've noticed a big increase in processor usage, which leads to slower computer performance. Some users faced frequent stuttering. Adding to that, there were complaints about laptops overheating and the fans becoming excessively noisy.

Also, it seems that Google Chrome, paired with AdBlock, significantly slows down your computer when watching videos on YouTube.

PC Gamer also confirmed the problem after a small test showed that running a YouTube video in Chrome with AdBlock increased CPU load by about 17%.

The first complaints about the issue with YouTube and the AdBlock extension surfaced in January 2024. Initially, users reported that their videos and the site itself were running slowly. Some found that they could solve the problem by simply disabling the extension.
