The entire ZBrush team has already joined Maxon.
Maxon has announced the official acquisition of all assets of Pixologic, the creators of the beloved sculpting software ZBrush. The former company has completed all financial and regulatory requirements and from now on, ZBrush is officially the part of Maxon family.
According to Maxon's statement, ZBrush users should expect no interruptions for the ongoing development of ZBrush post-acquisition. What they should expect though, is the collaboration between Maxon and ZBrush developers, with full access to Maxon's technologies and knowledge. Prior to the acquisition, the entire ZBrush development team had already joined Maxon to continue bringing greater innovation and expanded capabilities.
“We are excited to start working with the Maxon team,” said Ofer Alon, Founder of Pixologic. “Our synergies are undeniable – both companies share a great tradition of outstanding products, innovation, and a passion to serve the creative community.”
“I’m excited to see how this alliance will influence, evolve and enrich all our product offerings,” stated David McGavran, Maxon's CEO. “We have our eyes towards not only transforming creative workflows; we’re aspiring to revolutionize the industry.”
Previously, the ZBrush team had updated its subscription policy revealing that perpetual licenses acquired after December 29, 2021, will not receive free upgrades, with the subscription being necessary to receive them. Before, all the updates used to always be free, though the team always noted that licenses are entitled to one year of free upgrades.
