Hello 80lvl people!
My name is Andrii Ryzhov, I’m a 3D artist with 10 years of work experience. I was born in Odesa, Ukraine in 1990 and moved to Barcelona, Spain in 2013.
15 years ago someone gifted me a cd with strange software called 3ds Max. Since then my CG journey began.
My first work experience was based on Generalist job. I’ve been doing: modeling, animation, concept arts, post-processing, texturing, lighting, shading, rendering and etc… for me it was a normal thing because I didn’t know about the existence of the pipeline, about the fact that each artist is engaged in his own task.
Being CG generalist it is a really good practice if you wanna learn a lot in CG but as soon as you learned enough, try to direct your knowledge into something specific.
So during the first 3 years I accumulating knowledge and experience and studied how the world of CG and production is built.
Somewhere in 2012 meanwhile I worked on TV, my friend showed me a magic software calls ZBRUSH and I fell in love with it. Because I am obsessed with learning new things, I probably learned Zbrush in one week. Sculpting was always part of me since a was a kid so I felt very comfortable in the environment.
In 2013 I moved to Barcelona and worked a lot as a freelancer at 2 mobile gaming studios. I worked so hard because changing countries turned out to be a difficult decision for me but I’ve learned a lot of gaming production. I worked there for the next 4 years until In 2017 Nicolas Martinez call me to Eighty4.TV post production studio. He saw my entry for an art station competition and he was impressed.

Since then my professional experience begun.
I was a first 3d artist in his company and at the beginning we worked on small projects but for the big companies like Head & Shoulders, Ester Lauder and etc.
When we start to grow we became a partners with CANADA production and work with famous music artists like: Rosalia and Travis Scott, Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez, Mika etc. Also I worked on the biggest project in my life for Audi & Barça football club. I sculpted, textured an alien by the concept of Anatolii Umanets and rendered the final scene. For more realistic render HDRI from shooting wasn’t enough so recreated each scene in 3d for proper light bouncing, shadows and reflections.

Meanwhile I worked in Eighty4.TV I also worked on my own project and some freelance.
For example I’ve been making skins for CSGO which helped me to understand about guns texturing but I’m not only making skins, I’m also trying to make so beautiful presentation like renders and videos. So each design has its idea and story.
I also worked for the musician Ivan Dorn to recreate him in 3d for a full CG music video.
I did photogrammetry from the photos they sent me but it wasn’t enough for a good scan so I sculpted a lot to fix the missing parts.

On my ArtStation you can also find some sunglasses commercial for Walton & Mortimer and some entries for the competitions of my favorite video game Hunt: Showdown.
For example this Romero Hatchet I made from scratch in 8 hours using 3ds max to model and render it, Zbrush for sculpt and substance painter for textures.
Or this Russian General made in Marvelous Designer and substance painter, which took much more time but still enjoy the process.
Btw texturing is one of my favorite part of the process. I like to feel the materials and want to let my viewers feel it as they touch it IRL.
I guess my longest and biggest project I made by myself was MACBA (museum in Barcelona and famous skate spot) for skater xl video game.

Let's start from the beginning.
In 2020 I started to play Skater XL video game and met the amazing Skater XL community.
After time I realized that this game is free for modding included level creation.
I never ever opened Unity in my life and it was a good opportunity for me to learn it since the game was built on this Engine.
As I said in the promo for this map “To create it I've put all my love into 5 things: Skateboarding, MACBA, Barcelona, Art and Skater XL.
At the begging I knew that I could make it as real as possible but I couldn't imagine how many “underwater stones” will wait for me using Unity and because of the game specifications.

So in October 2020 I bought the laser ruler and started to measure the whole Plaza.
The most difficult part was to recreate the ground since it has different angles in different parts of plaza. I did my best.
After I modeled plaza and everything on it I came back to take a photos of EVERITHING on it: Tiles, Trees, Buildings, Graffiti, Dirt, Police cars, Manhole cover, Main Sculpture (which was a nightmare to model) and many many more. At the end of a day I had thousands of photos.
To add some life on this map I photscanned to persons (Ricardo “the Owner of Rufus skateshop” and Alex Braza the owner of “MACBA life” and Jart skateboards") and put them into the game as NPCs whos giving a quests what was nbd in Skater XL modding community.
Also as a part of the quest I've recreated Rufus Skateshop and add big miniramp in it.
P.S.: On the projector you can see the video with the dog called RUFUS after whom the shop was named. I did it for Ricardo to honor the memory of RUFUS.

29.10.2021 was exactly one year since I went to MACBA to measure it. I wanna show you breakdown of MACBA creation.
4 months of work and 114 hours on record in 30 minutes timelapse.
Now my goal is to become a big independent 3D artist, not just a performer, and leave something meaningful behind.
Thank you for your time!
