Above, is my progress so far on a project I started about 4 months ago. During my effort to teach myself the ins and outs of Unreal Engine, (and the game dev pipeline), I realized it would be beneficial to have a project to focus on which I could apply the lessons and principles that I was learning to. With that goal in mind I decided that I would remake the first stage of the SNES classic Mega Man X as a modern first person shooter.
At this stage all of the major movement and shooting mechanics are implemented and functional, and I have now started to model X's head and helmet mesh and to finetune the VFX for current projectiles and the Mega Man x mesh in addition to doing concept art for the environment assets, props, and enemies which will be in the game. This has been a huge learning experience for me so far and I am excited to continue.
