The rig allows the artist to adjust the body angle, wheel rotation speed, and more.
Beatrice Schmidt, a Technical Artist, Animator, and Cinematographer whose incredible character animations were featured previously here on 80 Level, has recently shown that her talent isn't limited to digital characters, presenting a new exciting project.
This time, the creator offered a look at a neat vehicle rig set up using Unreal Engine's Control Rig, a suite of animation tools for you to rig and animate models directly in-engine, used primaily for 3D characters.
According to Beatrice, she created a simple skeleton for the vehicles in Blender using the UE4 Vehicle Rigging Addon, imported all the models into Unreal Engine 5, and set up a Control Rig that allows her to tweak the body angle, front wheel direction, wheel rotation speed/direction, and tire position of the vehicles, perfect for animating cars running over objects.
"The beauty of this rig is its simplicity and versatility," commented the creator. "It can be easily adapted for different vehicle types by just adjusting the position of the controllers."

Earlier, the author also impressed us with her awesome motion-capture-based lip-sync 3D animation experiments in Maya and UE5:
Shortly prior to that, the artist officially introduced Zua, a custom digital character brought to life inside Unreal Engine 5. You can learn more about Zua and how she was made by checking out a detailed breakdown shared by its creators on Behance.
And back in December 2023, Beatrice also showcased a short work-in-progress sequence featuring incredibly realistic and fluid hand and face movements, set up using the Xsens suit and Faceware's facial motion capture system to capture the basic movements:
