80 Level is Launching Educational Courses This Summer

Yes, we're finally launching our very own digital art courses!

In February, we had a survey about your experience with online education and the need for educational materials. We carefully studied your answers, read all the feedback, and made a decision. We heard you loud and clear. Let's make the courses happen!

We collaborated with several amazing Digital Artists from our community, experts in their fields, whom we know and trust. In partnership, we will launch multiple co-branded courses with exclusive content teaching you cross-software skills on modeling, lighting, texturing, animation, etc.

Here are just a few areas we will cover:

  • Environment art
  • Creature production
  • Texture generation
  • Geometry Nodes and Blender
  • Incorporating 3D models into live-action cinematography
  • And much more!

Prepare your Houdini, Substance 3D, Blender, and Unreal Engine, and get ready to learn something new on August 5th!

Now, let's meet our first creators.

CGMatter/Default Cube

CGMatter/Default Cube is a Blender Artist with 6 years of experience, specializing in Geometry Nodes and procedural workflows. His expertise has led to work on projects like Disney's An Almost Christmas Story, Rabbit Trap, and Y2K, where he created procedural snow, growth simulations, and animations.

Beyond client work, CGMatter has produced over 1,000 Blender tutorials on YouTube and taught a Blender-based digital architecture course at MADI. He champions proceduralism as the future of 3D, blending technical mastery with creative exploration.

Rosen

Rosen is a Principal Texture Artist with 8 years of experience across VFX, tech art, and environment texturing. Starting in film VFX, he transitioned into games with roles at Snapshot Games (Phoenix Point), Creative Assembly (Total War: Troy), and now Camouflaj/Meta (Batman: Arkham Shadow, Iron Man VR). Known for procedural workflows and expertise in Substance 3D, Houdini, and Unreal Engine, he's led texture production, created custom tools, and delivered award-winning visuals.

Niki Marinov

Niki Marinov entered the industry in 2020 at Frontier Developments after earlier experience at startups and KitBash3D. Since then, he has contributed to five major titles, including Jurassic World Evolution 2, Formula 1 Manager 22, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, Planet Coaster 2, and Jurassic World Evolution 3.

Most recently, he collaborated with Adobe to create his own Signature 3D Collection, which he presented at GDC 2025, proving his expertise in environment design and asset creation at an industry-leading level.

Kai "Kizzle" Mergener

Kai "Kizzle" Mergener has nearly a decade of experience in the 3D industry, beginning with freelance work during university in 2014. Initially a generalist, his focus shifted with the rise of the Substance Suite, leading to a specialization in material art and a broader interest in procedural workflows.

Before joining Gunzilla, he worked at Gentlymad Studios on the Endzone series, gaining full-pipeline experience in a small team setting. His strengths lie in adaptability and a passion for learning. A standout moment was his completion of the first-ever Nodevember challenge in 2019 – creating a new material every day while juggling two full-time jobs. That effort helped launch his industry presence.

Chris Reilly

Chris Reilly is a 3D Generalist with 6 years of industry experience and a lifelong passion for VFX and 3D design, which began at age 14. He has worked with viral creators like Zack D Films and developed custom 3D collectibles for major IPs such as The Walking Dead and William Shatner.

Blending hard surface modeling, real-time rendering, motion design, and programming, his work spans cinematic VFX, UE5 environments, and branded experiences. From animated explainers to product-driven 3D content, his projects have reached audiences in the hundreds of millions across global campaigns and major franchises.

Nav Singh

Nav Singh is a Lead Animator at Pixomondo Toronto with 9 years of experience in the VFX industry, having worked on major projects at ILM, Folks VFX, and now also teaching at Seneca Polytechnic. His credits include blockbuster titles like House of the Dragon, Loki, and The Mandalorian.

Beyond studio work, he founded creaturestation.com, where he shares animation knowledge through self-produced courses. His greatest accomplishment is helping aspiring artists worldwide. With a decade of hands-on experience and five years of teaching experience, he brings real industry insight to every lesson.
