A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Level Design in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

For this year's #Blocktober, Simon Isacsson Andersen demonstrated how Khri's Observatory from the latest Star Wars Jedi game looked during the blockout stage.

Simon Isacsson Andersen, an experienced Level Designer who worked on Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a "Star Wars-themed soulslike" released earlier this year, has celebrated this year's #Blocktober by sharing a closer look at one of the locations created for the game.

For those unfamiliar, Blocktober is an unofficial annual event dedicated to all things level art and to the fantastic work Level Artists do to make a game's environments playable and enjoyable. Every year, numerous talented creators from both AAA studios and indie teams participate in the event, allowing us to have a look at our favorite games from a developer's point of view.

This year's Blocktober started on a good note, with Simon participating in the event and showcasing the behind-the-scenes of Jedi: Survivor. With a series of demos shared via Twitter, the artist showed how the game's Khri's Observatory looked during the blockout stage, providing some insightful commentary regarding the level design techniques that were used to set up the location, discussing the moving walls section, and more.

Attached below are the demos shared by Simon, you can check out more by visiting the author's Twitter page:

Simon, however, is not the only Respawn creator who participated in this year's Blocktober. The studio's Level Designers Brandon Yuan and Connor Richards and Senior Level Designers Jamie Uhrmacher and Nicholas G Cameron also contributed to the event, showing the early versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's environments that they worked on:
