Oskar Stålberg demonstrated an amazing lighting solution achieved with Signed Distance Fields and 3D textures.

A week ago, Game Developer known for the Viking-themed roguelike Bad North and a procedural city-building simulator Townscaper Oskar Stålberg presented an amazing lighting solution created in Unity. According to the Twitter post shared by Oskar, the setup was created using Unity's Signed Distance Field, 3D textures, a UV mapping algorithm, Depth Map Shadows, lighting math, and vector math. The author commented that this cool-looking setup is the first time he managed to "have the light bounce."

Moreover, the developer also shared a short breakdown, providing some behind-the-scenes details about the lighting solution. You can check it out down below or by visiting Oskar's Twitter page
