Harry Alisavakis made a complex soup shader using a workflow similar to his water shaders creation process.
VFX Artist Harry Alisavakis, known for creating outstanding water shaders, unveiled a new delicious-looking project. This time, the artist has made anime-style ramen in Unity as part of Technically A Challenge, a challenge that tasks Tech Artists to create something beautiful related to a certain topic. According to the artist, all of the individual elements are modeled in Blender and use a slightly modified version of Harry's cel-shading shader.
But the highlight of the entire project is, without a doubt, a complex soup shader created by Harry to make the dish look even more mouthwatering. The author commented that the shader is using standard depth difference to blend between colors, make the quad more transparent near the intersections, and reveal parts of the thresholded noise texture. In total, there are 3 different intersection threshold values. Additionally, the artist utilized Bloom and Ambient Occlusion to give the ramen an anime-like feel.
