Hazelight Studios
Hazelight Studios' new co-op adventure Split Fiction has garnered tons of attention recently, not only for its brilliant sales achievement of more than two million copies sold in its first week but also for how it creates unforgettable memories for players, as showcased by the overwhelmingly positive reviews.
The developers have designed an extremely challenging level for the game, which is referred to as Laser Hell, and I think it's fair to call it a hell-level difficulty. In this level, two players must navigate through several rooms filled with fast-moving lasers that they need to dodge. It's so difficult that very few members of the development team have managed to complete it.
Once players successfully complete the level and both stand on the yellow buttons on the ground, a video featuring game director Josef Fares appears to congratulate them. Due to the level's extreme difficulty, the developers offer exciting rewards for the first players to complete it.
Two weeks after the game's release, a pair of Chinese players finally beat this challenge, and their gameplay was live-streamed. As promised, they are offered free tickets to the Hazelight Studios headquarters in Sweden and have a look at the studio's next game, whose development already started around a month ago, before Split Fiction was released earlier this month.
Seeing them play this Laser Hell makes me sweat in my palm, and you can watch the recap video on the Chinese YouTube-like platform Bilibili. At the bottom left of the screen is the comment section, which is filled with words expressing viewers' respect for their achievement.
