A Game that Costs $2,000 Was Released on Steam

The indie title The Hidden and Unkown was purposefully made shorter than two hours so that players could easily ask for a refund.

A new indie game called The Hidden and Unknown has appeared on Steam. What's notable about it is its remarkable price – it's now the most expensive title on Valve's platform and it costs a whopping $2,000.

The game, which was released on January 23, is obviously priced too high for a lot of players to afford, however, its developer, ProX, claims that there is a reasoning behind the high price contained within it.

According to ProX's founder who goes by the alias ThePro, the high price of the semi-autobiographical visual novel reflects the value the developers put on the game.

"The reason for the price tag is that I wouldn't want to just sell my own life for pennies, as to me, the story means more than just a pure 'game'," the developer explained in an interview with TheGamer.

They also went on to say that they "do not wish to get any people into financial trouble" and encouraged those who cannot afford the game to not purchase it or opt for a refund.

It's worth noting that The Hidden and Unknown takes only two hours to complete which, as the developer says, was made on purpose allowing people to finish the game without exceeding Steam's playtime and be able to easily ask for a refund.
