A Redditor Imagines Cars 4 With a Blender-Made 3D Animation

Well, not really, but the quality is indeed on par with Pixar's.

Over on Reddit, a 3D Animator known as Kv Vortex has been garnering the attention of thousands of people for the past several days with an incredibly detailed 3D animation inspired by Pixar's Cars franchise.

Described as a wheel animation test, the sequence in question depicts a worried and preoccupied Lightning McQueen driving to what seems to be a woodland edge located somewhere near Radiator Springs. According to the author, the animation was set up in Blender Cycles, with the main character's moving eyes having been made by parenting the eyes to a bone.

While the sequence looks incredible in and of itself, what makes it particularly striking is that this is Kv Vortex's debut in 3D animation, as according to the artist's original Reddit post, they only have a couple of weeks of animation practice under their belt.
