The game adaptation of the beloved horror franchise Alien: Isolation is getting a sequel. It was announced by the game's Creative Director Al Hope on Twitter ahead of the 10th anniversary of the first game's release. The tweet was reposted by the developer of the 2014 game, Creative Assembly.

Hope wrote that when the 2014 game's development started, the team's only guiding principle was to "create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the Alien franchise – a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece."

The developer expressed gratitude to the fans who have been playing the game: "Whether you are a nightmare mode veteran or stepping into Amanda Ripley's shoes for that thrilling first attempt (good luck!), we wanted to express our deep gratitude. It was a dream project brought to life by a brilliant team, and the reception you have given it over the years is extraordinary."

On behalf of the team, Al Hope confirmed that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. There are no more details yet, including information on the possible release window, but the Creative Director noted that the team was looking forward to sharing more details when they were ready.

To celebrate the 10th of the first game, its publisher SEGA posted a video made in collaboration with a YouTuber Lofi Girl known for videos with ambient music, perfect for concentration while working and studying or for relaxing. In the video, Alien-themed music is turned into lo-fi beats. Check it out:

The 2014 video game partly served as an inspiration for the latest installment of the movie franchise, Alien Romulus. Its Director Fede Alvarez shared that it was the game Alien: Isolation that made him see that Alien could truly be terrifying.
