Software developer Act-3D has announced the release of Lumion 2023, a completely redesigned new version of its 3D rendering engine for architects and designers. Featuring tons of new features and improvements, including ray tracing, full PBR workflow, and many others, Lumion 2023 "represents a complete foundational shift" and enables its users to achieve even greater realism with less effort.
The highlight of the engine's new version is the introduction of the Ray Tracing Effect, which merges Lumion's previous rasterization technology with the brand-new ray tracing technique and emulates physically-correct light behavior, allowing you to get realistic results. With the effect switched on, your renders will automatically show realistic indirect lighting, non-screen space reflections, contact shadows, and more.
Another notable improvement is the introduction of a full PBR material workflow, incorporating eight maps to enhance the realism of your projects. This upgrade delivers a more natural depiction of physical characteristics by precisely calculating light conditions and providing greater control over Material Settings.
Furthermore, Lumion 2023 comes with 98 new materials, including wood, stone, brick, plaster, metal, concrete, asphalt, soil, and grass, and a reworked glass material that lets you fine-tune every last detail of your projects' windows and other glass surfaces and allows you to add a custom texture and adjust the distortion to your liking.
Additionaly, the upgrade adds a redesigned UI, an improved AutoSnap feature, and a new Transform Gizmo tool to its scene editor, making the process of arranging your scenes much faster and easier.
On top of that, Lumion 2023 comes with three new camera paths, Follow Object, Dolly Shot, and Orbit Path, allowing for greater control and smoother camera movements and enabling the user to create fast and easy animations.
The update also features:
- The ability to render directly in your preferred aspect ratio.
- Improvements to Lumion's real-time GPU upsampling technology.
- Improved color correction.
- New objects in Library.
- Improved Styrofoam Effect.
- Updated UI.
- And much, much more!
