On December 18, ABK Workers Alliance shared an announcement, which stated that Activision Blizzard's QA employees, based in Minneapolis, Austin, and El Segundo, received an email informing them that the hybrid work model will come to an end in January. The company reportedly said that there would be zero work-from-home days.

"The job security of many QA employees was already on shaky ground due to the announcement of hybrid work earlier this year. Since then, hundreds of employees have been in correspondence with the accommodations team to try to receive permanent work-from-home arrangements due to disability, financial issues, or other factors," stated the Alliance. "Many of these requests have been outright denied, and many more have been offered in-office accommodations that do not adequately meet the needs of employees."

The Alliance also wrote that many employees were forced out of the company in a "soft layoff", highlighting that removing hybrid work would force even more employees out of the company into a desperate situation.

Activision Blizzard contacted Eurogamer and provided a statement, saying that the cancelation of the hybrid model would boost the company's processes and collaboration and help to bring players a better experience.

"We've made the decision to move from a hybrid work schedule to a full-time, in-office working model for Activision QA in Minneapolis, Austin, and El Segundo to foster a best-in-class QA function and best deliver for our players. We take our support for employees with disabilities, differing abilities, mental health requirements, and changing medical needs seriously,"

Employees who choose to leave their employment due to the new requirement of working in-office will receive severance from the company.
