Activision Blizzard's Daniel Alegre Is Appointed the New CEO of Yuga Labs

The executive is leaving Activision Blizzard to take on the role of CEO of Yuga Labs, the creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection.

Activision Blizzard's Daniel Alegre is stepping down from his role as the president and chief operating officer of the company. The executive's departure was revealed in a new 8K filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Alegre will leave the company when he finishes his current term of employment, which ends on March 31, 2023. Following his departure from Activision, Alegre will take over as CEO of Yuga Labs, the company has revealed

Yuga Labs is known for creating one of the most recognizable NFT collections, Bored Ape Yacht Club. Now the company is busy with its new project – Otherside, a blockchain-based gamified metaverse inspired by massively multiplayer online role-playing games called.

According to Yuga Labs, Alegre is set to help the company "catapult Otherside and [its] other ambitious projects to new heights." He will join the blockchain firm in the first half of 2023 as he succeeds Nicole Muniz. Muniz will stay on with the company as a partner and strategic advisor. 

"Nicole, Greg, and I have been on the hunt for someone with Daniel’s skill set for some time. The business, our ambitions, and the complexity of the work have grown beyond our wildest expectations," Yuga co-founder Wylie Aronow in a press release. "We are thrilled to have him join the team to help with our vision of a truly interoperable metaverse."

Alegre joined Activision Blizzard in 2020 after leaving Google where he spent over 16 years serving in various leading positions including president of Global and Strategic Partnerships. Activision has yet to say who will replace Alegre in his position.
