Adobe shipped the latest version of its flagship compositing software, After Effects 25.2, which introduces several new features to enhance the motion graphics experience. A major highlight is the High Performance Preview Playback, which was introduced in beta earlier this year.
High Performance Preview Playback improves disk cache management, speeding up workflows by reducing the need to re-render during previews or edits. Key benefits include longer previews, better performance on lower-spec systems, and more efficient use of RAM by balancing disk cache and memory.

This release also allows HDR composition previews in full dynamic range on HDR-capable displays or via Mercury Transmit. It lets you import HDR media, add it to a composition, and preview your work in HDR on your monitor or external hardware, ensuring an accurate representation of the final output when exported.
After Effects 25.2 introduces several 3D workflow enhancements, including FBX file import support. Users can now import 3D assets into compositions, adjust how they interact with lights and shadows, and access animation options for GLB and GLTF layers, enabling the use of embedded animations.
You can now use videos, images, animated compositions, and other layers as Environment Lights, in addition to HDR and EXR files, enabling dynamic and realistic effects in 3D projects. Animated Environment Lights allow models to react to changes in light, providing more accurate lighting and reflections.

Other changes include the ability to customize panel background colors, as well as adjust the color and size of the transparency grid, among other updates.
