Adobe Lightroom Brings AI Features & Masking Options

Speed up workflows with new Denoise, Curves in masking, Adaptive Presets, and more.

Adobe presented new AI-powered features for Lightroom meant to help accelerate workflows and "empower intuitive editing".

One of the greatest new assets is Denoise, which lets you remove digital noise from your images to improve quality, especially in photos taken in low light. This new feature is now available for RAW files, with additional file types coming soon.

Curves in masking allow you to adjust contrast, tone, and color on specific parts of your image to create customized and precise edits. This provides precise control over tonality and color in particular areas of a photo, helping you achieve the ideal appearance.

Adobe also brings more AI Mask categories for Select People. Now it’s possible to make edits to clothing and facial hair by automatically generating a mask for individuals or groups.

There are now additional adaptive presets for portraits available in the software. You can apply presets that automatically enhance a particular part of the photo – the newest additions are Polished Portrait, Darken Beard, and Enhance Clothing.

Polished Portrait lets you smooth the skin on portraits, enhance the lighting, and refine facial features. Darken Beard will darken the facial hair of the person, while Enhance Clothing increases contrast, saturation, and texture.

Other features include the ability to make any videos black and white, Content Credentials, and Masking features and Adaptive Presets. AI Masking for both Select Subject, Sky and Background are now available in Lightroom on the web, allowing you to detect and create an adaptive mask based on the contents of the image.

Adobe is also going to release presets like Whiten Teeth, Glamour, and the new portraits for the web version.
