Adobe Releases After Effects 22.0

The long-awaited new Multi-Frame Rendering system is finally here.

Adobe shipped After Effects 22.0, the latest version of its compositing software. The latest update adds the long-awaited new Multi-Frame Rendering system that speeds up previews and final-quality renders.

The new version also introduces a reworked render queue with support for remote notifications, a new Speculative Preview system, and a Composition Profiler for troubleshooting performance bottlenecks.

As for motion graphics work, Cinema 4D Lite, the cut-down edition of Cinema 4D, now supports the tool’s new Asset Browser.

The main focus this time is the new Multi-Frame Rendering system, originally released in a separate beta build of the toolkit in March. The system lets you use all of the CPU cores in parallel when rendering, saving time on preview renders and final-quality export.

Adobe states that using a four- or six-core processor with the new version will provide a 1.2-1.4x increase in render speed, or up to 4x when using CPUs with 16 or more cores in systems with over 48GB of RAM.
