Amazon Confirms a God of War Show Is Coming to Prime Video

The show will follow the events from 2018's God of War reboot.

Amazon has officially announced that its Prime Video is getting a live-action series based on PlayStation's 2018 game, God of War.

Rumors that God of War is set to get a series adaptation started circulating back in March when Deadline reported that Amazon was in negotiations for a Prime Video series about the popular video game franchise.

At the time, it was reported that the show would be created by Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions and that The Expanse creators and executive producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, and The Wheel of Time executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins would lead the project.

And now, Amazon verified that the TV adaptation of God of War is officially happening and that Deadline's report was accurate.

According to Amazon's synopsis, the show will pretty much follow the events from 2018's reboot when after leaving his gory past in ancient Greece and coming to the Norse realm of Midgard, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey together with his son, Atreus, to fulfill his wife's dying wish – spreading her ashes from the highest peak.

Amazon's announcement doesn't reveal who will star in the series. It's also currently unclear when the show is set to be released but Amazon noted that it will be aired in over 240 countries and territories.
