Amazon Games Head Mike Frazzini Is Stepping Down

Amazon Games VP, Mike Frazzini, is stepping down from his role to "focus on his family".

Mike Frazzini, head of Amazon Games, has stepped down from his role to "focus on his family", according to a report from Bloomberg. Frazzini, who helped start Amazon Games Studios, had spent 13 years in games and 18 years at the company.

He confirmed his departure via LinkedIn post saying that he had always wanted to step down in the middle of his career to spend more time with his family and "pursue some personal interests". Frazzini hasn't disclosed where he's going to head next mentioning that probably one day he would return to Amazon Games. He also pointed out that he's "excited for the adventure".

In a comment to Bloomberg, Amazon spokesperson Ryan Jones shared: "Mike was there at the beginning of Amazon Games, and his leadership and perseverance helped build the games business from the ground up. Our recent successes with New World and Lost Ark are the result of the long-term, customer-focused vision for games he helped establish. We are very grateful for all his contributions and wish Mike the very best."

New World

Before the games division was formed at Amazon, Frazzini had worked in a books section of the marketplace. When he started running the studio, he had no experience in the gaming industry and, according to Bloomberg, was criticized by the current and former employees for rejecting the advice of the developers he hired as well as telling the staff that each Amazon game had to be a "billion-dollar franchise" and then understaffing the projects.

Although Frazzini noted that now "the future is very bright for Amazon Games". He said: "Prime Gaming is on a strong trajectory, providing more and more great content to players worldwide who are members of Amazon Prime. And we have some newer initiatives that are gaining real traction."
