Amazon Is Discontinuing Support for Cloud Cam

Amazon announced that it is discontinuing support for its renowned home security brand, Cloud Cam. The service for the security camera and all companion apps will be shut down starting December 2, 2022.

In an email to customers, the company also warned that all the video history will also be deleted by that date, although now the users still can download the video recordings prior to December 2.

"As the number of Alexa smart home devices continues to grow, we are focusing efforts on Ring, Blink, and other technologies that make your home smarter and simplify your everyday routines," the company wrote. "Therefore, we have decided to no longer continue support for Amazon Cloud Cam and its companion apps."

However, Amazon noted that it "will continue to offer innovative smart home security solutions for [its] customers through Amazon’s Ring and Blink brands". It also indicated that in order to help affected users rebuild their home surveillance system, it will offer a free Blink Mini and a one-year Blink Subscription Plus plan.

"Those still using Cloud Cam – Key Edition, will also be eligible for an Echo (4th Gen)," an Amazon spokesperson added in a statement to MacRumors.

Owners of Cloud Cam will be emailed instructions for redeeming their free Blink Mini and Echo before December 2.

Amazon Cloud Cam is a smart indoor security camera that lets users track their homes. The Cloud Cam lineup was launched in 2017 and was discontinued two years later after the company purchased the security camera makers Blink and Ring.
