Not only John Carpenter's Escape from New York is a well-loved classic action escape movie, but it's also famous for its legacy and impact that goes beyond cinema with some famous authors like William Gibson and Hideo Kojima crediting Escape from New York as a major inspiration in their work.
Starring Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken, Escape from New York usually gets praised for its unique mix of action, weirdness, and science fiction, set in a grim dystopian Manhattan turned maximum security prison by the US government. The island is closed from the outside world and is under heavy police surveillance.
Escape from New York is set in a then-near future when the US president crashes into Manhattan and gets taken hostage by a group of inmates, and a former Special Forces soldier turned criminal Snake Plissken gets sent to the rescue in exchange for his own freedom.

The album uploaded to Imgur consists of scene blackouts and concert art including the iconic locations and portraits of Russell's Plissken. The mixture of art and actual development images suggests that the game has probably progressed past the concept stage.
As of now, there's no confirmation whether these images are official or someone's extremely dedicated fan project, for they are too detailed and look promising to deliver a genuine recreation of the Escape from New York's bizarre and dystopian universe.
Slipgate Ironworks is a Danish game development studio, now a part of Saber Interactive, with their most recent games including Graven and Wrath: Aeon of Ruin. Although there haven't been any announcements on their behalf, the studio's official site teases some mysterious 'Upcoming Title', contributing to the speculation.
