An Update on the Future of Respawn's Titanfall Series

The team may or may not be thinking about the next installment in the series.

"There's nothing there," said Respawn Entertainment community coordinator Jason Garza during a recent stream answering a question about the future of the Titanfall series. "Yeah, it's a game with a lot of mechs. It's an old one, back when Xbox first launched. Don't get your hopes up, man. I've said this before, we just don't have anything in the works. There's nothing there. We've got too many other games in the works right now."

The Respawn team then replied to comment and the news in a separate tweet saying that "Titanfall is the very core of [the team's] DNA. Who knows what the future holds."

Back in a 2020 IGN interview with Respawn boss Vince Zampella, the manager also said that the studio wasn't working on a new Titanfall game, but added that he would like to see the franchise return in some form someday.

In the meantime, Respawn Entertainment is hiring for multiple team projects across Apex Legends, Star Wars, and the new Game Incubation teams. Respawn Entertainment is the Academy Award-winning studio that previously launched Titanfall, Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond.

What do you think about the franchise? Should the team give it another chance or perhaps explore another genre within the series? Share your thoughts in the comments.
