Rovio Entertainment Ltd. has launched Angry Birds 2 yesterday, and in just 12 hours it has been downloaded 1 million times. Not just that, but according to Apple, people have spent 1 million years playing Angry Birds.
Angry Birds first came out in 2009, and since then the original game has been downloaded 920 million times making it the most popular game out of the series. After six years and twelve spinoffs, Angry Birds 2 is thirteenth game in the series and is the “official” sequel with new features and a fresh gameplay. This is great timing because with a drop in merchandise sales and a movie coming out next year, it’s important to get people excited about the brand again as it has been quite stretched. Apple had a little something to say about how much people have been played Angry Birds over the years.
