The creator utilized the Passthrough technology and the recently-released Meta Quest Pro headset to set up the environment.
Creative Entertainment Technology Executive Chris Young has recently demonstrated an absolutely mind-blowing digital version of his apartment recreated in virtual reality. Set up using Unreal Engine and Passthrough, a technology that allows you to step outside your view in VR to see a real-time view of your surroundings, on Meta's recently-released Quest Pro headset, the VR environment looks exceptionally realistic and, according to the creator, is extremely accurate, with the digital copies of various objects being located within centimeters of their real-life counterparts.
"I started with some photogrammetry scans I created in Metashape to reference on top of some as-built drawings I had of the house. I focused on getting the interior wall geometry as accurate as possible and then hand-modeled most of the environment using photo reference and measurements for things," commented Chris on his workflow. "The fireplace is the only thing that I remeshed and extracted textures from scanned data."
