The updated App Store pricing model will give developers more flexibility in setting prices for their products and help them manage exchange rates easier.
Apple has announced a major update to its App Store pricing model that will give developers more flexibility in setting prices for their products.
The update is bringing an additional 700 price points for App Store apps including 600 new price points to choose from and 100 higher price points that will be available "upon request." This means that now, developers will be able to choose from a total of 900 points and set prices from as low as 29 cents to as high as $10,000.
The new price points will increase incrementally across price ranges – for instance, every 10 cents up to $10, every 50 cents between $10 and $50, and so forth. Developers will also be able to incorporate rounded price endings (like $0.90 or $1.00) as well as set prices that begin with two repeating digits (for example, ₩110,000).
In addition, the new pricing model will allow developers to manage pricing across international markets easier. For instance, an app maker from a certain region can set a price for their domestic storefront and have the price outside their country updated, shall foreign exchange and tax rates change.
The new pricing options will be rolled out in the spring of 2023. You can learn more about the updated App Store pricing model here.
