Apple Is Reportedly Working on a New 20-inch Foldable Device

Apple is said to be working on an "iPad/MacBook hybrid" device with a 20-inch foldable display.

Apple is reportedly working on a device with a 20-inch foldable display panel. According to Mark Gurman's Bloomberg newsletter, the new device will be an "iPad/MacBook hybrid" featuring a dual-screen display with entirely touchscreen-based navigating.

Last week, Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) CEO Ross Young claimed that Apple is currently exploring the idea of a foldable device with a large screen. In the newsletter, Gurman backs up Young's claims saying that Apple is, indeed, considering such possibility.

The new device will reportedly feature a Samsung Galaxy Book Fold-like dual-screen display. It won't have a conventional keyboard and trackpad featuring "a fully touch-screen base" instead. We could see something similar in Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Fold that folds in the center taking the shape of a touch-screen laptop.

The potential release date of Apple's new device is said to be around 2026 – at approximately the same time when the company is set to launch an Apple car and long-rumored AR glasses which reportedly will feature micro OLED displays.
