Art-To-Experience Contest Wraps Up: Meet the Winners

Back in early spring, we teamed up with Emperia to launch the Art-To-Experience contest, a unique creative challenge inviting digital artists and immersive creators to experiment with storytelling. Now that the submissions are in and the judging is complete, we’re happy to share the results and highlight some truly inspiring work.

The goal of the contest was simple: to give artists the tools and platform to build their own interactive 3D worlds - be it atmospheric showrooms, surreal galleries, or narrative-driven environments. Using Emperia Creator Tools participants submitted original projects that not only looked good but felt immersive.

We received a diverse range of experiences - from abstract sci-fi dreamscapes to rich, branded installations - and our jury had the tough task of narrowing it down. Each submission was scored across three main criteria:

  • Visual Aesthetics – overall style, composition, use of color, and polish

  • Narrative Flow & Interactivity – how well the experience guides the viewer and what kind of engagement it offers

  • Concept Originality – strength and uniqueness of the idea, and how effectively it’s communicated

And the results were fantastic. You can explore the top pre-selected winning entries right now, they're browser-based, no downloads needed, and offer a glimpse into what storytelling in 3D spaces can look like when creators are given the freedom to build.

The final selections were made by a panel of industry professionals with deep experience in immersive tech, creative direction, and digital communities. We're grateful for their time and thoughtful evaluations.

Their insights helped shape the outcome of the contest, highlighting the most innovative and impactful submissions across all three judging criteria.

If you’re not familiar with Emperia yet, this contest was a perfect intro. The platform lets artists and brands design fully immersive web-based environments - kind of like walking through a game level, only tailored for digital storytelling, fashion showcases, portfolio spaces, or virtual commerce. It’s simple to use, but gives you a ton of flexibility in building scenes, placing interactive elements, and customizing the journey.

Emperia's Creator Tools platform empowers creators, studios and enterprises to build and deploy cross-device virtual worlds. The no-code solution enables them to go from a game engine 3D design to a fully functional, high quality web or spatial computing virtual world in minutes.

What’s Next?

We want to give a huge shoutout to everyone who participated, as well as to Emperia for making this collaboration possible. This contest was just one of many ways we aim to spotlight emerging talent and offer new tools for expression.

Make sure to keep an eye on 80 Level for more contests, showcases, and experimental platforms you can try out. We’re always looking for new ways to support the creative tech community and help artists get their work in front of the world.

In the meantime - go take a walk through some of these amazing virtual worlds. You might just get inspired to build your own.

This contest wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our prize partners:

  • Cascadeur – for providing Pro and Indie licenses to empower animation creativity.

  • DoubleJump Academy – for offering gift cards redeemable for any of their workshops, helping winners level up their creative skills.

  • KIRI Engine – for their powerful photogrammetry tool subscriptions, enhancing 3D workflows for our winners.

  • Greyscalegorilla – for access to their industry-leading Plus subscriptions, giving our top winners the tools they need to shine.
