The campaign is set to fund the creation of future titles based on Atari's IPs such as Centipede, Asteroids, and Pong.
Atari has teamed up with Fig, the video game division of the Republic platform, to launch Atari Game Pool, a crowdfunding campaign that aims to fund the creation of future titles. With the funds raised, Atari plans to hire external developers to produce new games based on its IPs, including Centipede, Asteroids, and Pong.
The campaign is set to raise $1 million to $15 million by August 6, and it already generated $100,000 in its first 24 hours. Investors can contribute a minimum of $500 and a maximum of $1 million to Atari Game Pool.
By taking part in Fig crowdfunding campaigns, investors stand a chance to earn payouts based on the success of the final game. The initiative plans to allocate a budget of $1 million to $5 million to two or three biggest games, with the aim of generating sales worth $10 million to $25 million.
Additionally, four to six smaller-sized projects will be given a budget of $500,000 to $1 million, with sales targets of up to $10 million.
According to Atari, it has already started collaborating with other developers to produce new titles for its classic game franchises.
