Atomontage's Platform Launches in Open Beta

The platform uses microvoxels to create computer graphics.

Atomontage, a startup that develops volumetric graphics and simulation software, has launched an early version of its microvoxel technology at Slush 2021 conference in Helsinki, Finland. According to the team, their technology offers a new way of creating computer graphics for video games and computer simulations. The main advantage of cloud-based volumetric graphics is that it uses breakthroughs in 3D data compression so that it becomes a lot easier to share 3D imagery with vast amounts of detail.

For those unaware, Voxels are basically cubes that are used to construct images. Atomontage’s voxels, on the other hand, are so tiny they’re called microvoxels. They can be used to create much more fine-grained images than other types of graphics.

"While the current minimum viable product state of the platform does support the visualization, editing, and sharing of huge 3D data, the coming year will be packed with major feature releases that move us as quickly as possible toward our big vision: supporting groundbreaking games and other deeply interactive experiences that Montage Makers (i.e. you) can directly monetize themselves," writes Atomontage.
