VFX Artist Rassoul Edji, known for sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses of his CG work on major productions like last year's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, is currently developing his own CG short film, frequently updating on the progress of one of its characters, Hyperion.
His latest post, showcasing amazing rigging work on Hyperion, received significant attention due to its incredible level of detail and mechanically plausible design, being mainly driven by pistons and other recognizable pieces, as explained by the artist.
Here's the automated character rig builder for Hyperion, which performed a series of tasks on the model and provided the completed rig, minimizing the need for manual updates to individual components:
