Introducing markerless motion capture, 3ds Max real-time facial mocap, upgraded facial rigging, MetaHuman editing tool, and more.
Basefount has launched Animcraft 5.0, a smart collaborative animation library and editor that can produce and share complex animation with DCC software and game engines.
This release brings a lot of major updates aimed at enhancing the efficiency and quality of animation workflows. Take a look at the new features highlights:
- Local high-speed markerless mocap
- 3ds Max real-time facial mocap
- Maya's animation import optimization (no need for retarget-mapping for AdvancedSkeleton)
- One-click conversion of Animcraft-based facial rigs between Maya and 3ds Max
- Maya's MetaHuman editing tool update
- Maya's advanced facial rigging upgrade
- 3ds Max's advanced facial expressions with custom controllers and bones
- Upgrade of 3ds Max set keyframe to Maya character
Animcraft
The new Animcraft markerless video motion capture feature eliminates the need for equipment and professional location, requiring only one video. Using local computing power along with GPU acceleration to enhance recognition speed, it's able to achieve pose recognition and motion capturing with an AI algorithm.
Additionally, it offers a complete suite of tools including foot locking, full-body IK, nonlinear editing, retargeting, and more, so you can also visually edit foot-lock timings, adjust smoothing parameters for better results, and easily import the results into any software and rigs of characters.
Animcraft
For 3ds Max users, Anicraft 5.0 offers real-time facial mocap capabilities, supporting iPad/iPhone capture and real-time application facial expressions to the 3ds Max character.
The advanced facial rigging for 3ds Max now includes custom controllers and bone points, offering more personalized and refined animation results. For users who work with both 3ds Max and Maya, there's a new one-click conversion feature, making it easier to switch Animcraft's facial rigs between different software.
Animcraft
As for Maya users, a newly optimized animation import/export functionality eliminates the need for retarget-mapping, enabling seamless, zero-operation Advanced-Skeleton-Rig-based animation import/export and retargeting. Anicraft 5.0 has also upgraded Maya's advanced facial rigging, providing more flexible and precise automatic weighting algorithms for the eye and mouth area.
The Metahuman editing tool has also been thoroughly upgraded, now supporting real-time mirror preview and batch mirror expressions, improving workflow efficiency. Furthermore, it received extended compatibility with the latest version of RBF deformation tools, supporting the writing of facial model point positions data, skinning data, and blendshape data into DNA files, providing more comprehensive production support.
