Bongfish Is Hiring a Senior Level Designer

The studio is seeking an experienced Senior Level Designer who will help create compelling 3D spaces for a well-established multiplayer FPS.

Bongfish, the developer behind Harms Way, Motocross Madness, and Stoked is looking for a Senior Level Designer to join the team where you contribute to the creation of captivating 3D environments for a renowned multiplayer first-person shooter. This opportunity allows you to expand your skill set by learning innovative tools, techniques, and processes, all aimed at achieving a successful outcome. Collaborating with talented designers, artists, and developers, you will leave players awe-inspired with the immersive worlds you help bring to life.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the layout, flow, pacing, and overall player experience of your levels
  • Collaborate closely with artists and other disciplines to design spaces that embrace realism just as well as enticing gameplay
  • Support artists in the creation of 3D concepts by doing research, bringing up ideas, and consulting from a Level Design perspective
  • Blockout and refine the 3D concepts into playable spaces with both PvP and PvE aspects
  • Research and become intimately familiar with the game's design and world
  • Playtest, iterate, and refine designs based on feedback from the team and across several studios
  • Document, communicate, and present your designs from start to finish

Requirements

  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in Level Design for (tactical) multiplayer FPS games, through professionally or personally shipped levels
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-discipline team
  • Clear and proactive communication skills
  • Strong analytical and creative thinking abilities
  • Ability to take on responsibility and ownership of designs
  • Flexibility as priorities or requirements from other teams can change
  • Passion for first-person shooters and a deep appreciation for game design
     

A Plus

  • Experience with 3D modeling (Maya/3Dsmax/Blender)
  • Background in art (understanding of proportions, composition, colors, etc)
