Brace Yourself Games Opens a Publishing Wing

The new division will focus on indie titles and will publish a small selection of games that the company loves and believes in.

Canadian developer Brace Yourself Games, mainly known as a creator of Crypt of the NecroDancer, announced it is opening a new publishing wing, Brace Yourself Publishing. According to the company, the main priority of the publishing division will be titles created by independent developers.

As reported by PocketGamer.biz, Brace Yourself, which also developed Cadence of Hyrule and Phantom Brigade, said it will leverage its experience gained from creating a catalog of its games to help small studios bring their titles to the public.

At least at launch, the company plans to focus on a small selection of games that it loves and believes in and will give its "full attention and care" to the teams that it is "very proud to work with." Brace Yourself noted that it is looking for unique games that are "replayable and deep" as well as represent genres with reasonably sized player bases.

"After nearly a decade of developing games, we now want to use the resources and knowledge we've gained to help smaller indie developers make their own dream projects a reality," the company said.

"At BYG, we aren’t looking to publish hundreds of games – we want to work with a small handful of games to which we give our full attention and care," it added. "It’s important to us that we only publish games that we love and believe in, with teams that we’re very proud to work with."
