The company said that the new office will assist in the development of Build A Rocket Boy's debut title EVERYWHERE.
Build A Rocket Boy, the studio founded by former GTA boss Leslie Benzie, revealed its plans to establish a new studio in Montpellier, France. The new studio is set to open in 2023 joining the company's existing offices in Edinburgh, its headquarters, and Budapest.
Build A Rocket Boy hasn't announced who will lead the new office only saying that it will be comprised of an "industry veteran line up."
"I am thrilled to have these fantastic industry veterans heading up our Montpellier studio," Leslie Benzies said. "The talent in the Montpellier area that has been joining us over the past year has taken Everywhere to a whole new level. Putting down roots and opening an office in France will dramatically expand our footprint and is the next natural step in Build A Rocket Boy’s evolution."
According to a press release, the Montpellier studio will assist in the development of EVERYWHERE, Build A Rocket Boy's debut title that, as the studio says, will blur the line between reality and the digital world and will feature a variety of possible actions, including driving cars, shooting, exploring various stylized game worlds, and more.
The game was first revealed in 2020 when Build A Rocket Boy said it raised £32 million to fund the title's development and was officially announced earlier this year during Gamescom's Opening Night Live.
It's unclear whether the new office will be focusing on a particular area as the studio only shared that it will "accommodate the expanding needs of the global development team."
