Build A Rocket Boy Hires Veterans From Evolution, Ubisoft, NCsoft
Leslie Benzies found three new leads to manage the company.
Build At Rocket Boy hired three veterans to lead the team: Mick Hocking as a chief development officer, Murray Pannell as SVP of global marketing, and Randall Price as a chief publishing officer.
Previously, Mick Hocking was the co-founder of the late Evolution Studios – the company had closed in 2016. He also acted as VP of product development at Codemasters, which had helped the Evolution team. What is more, he had the role of vice president at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
Pannell came to Build A Rocket Boy from 2K where he acted as VP of publishing for Europe for five years. He also has experience as marketing director for the UK and Ireland at PlayStation, and marketing director at Ubisoft.
As for Price, the new chief publishing officer arrived from NCsoft where he had been managing as senior vice president of publishing for four years.
Build A Rocket Boy was launched by former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies in 2017 as Royal Circus Games. Rockstar wanted to sue the team as its acronym (RCG) was close to Rockstar Games (RSG), so they had to pick the new name, Build A Rocket Boy. The studio has already raised £32 million to boost the development of its debut project, open-world sci-fi title Everywhere.
